My grandfather passed a few years ago, and it hit me hard. In his last few days, he told me to make sure I enjoy life. “Don’t stay cooped up at work.” He also made sure I had the means to do that, leaving me a pretty large sum of money. That day I quit my job at KFC and decided to live my life.
It started with a visit to Ireland to a road trip through what has to be one of the greenest places on earth…filled with sheep, cows and endless pints of Guinness. I loved it so much I returned a few months later to explore by train.
Having been bitten by the international travel bug, I couldn’t stop. In the last five years I have traveled to Germany, Norway, Denmark, Switzerland, Holland, Estonia, Latvia, Panama, Belize, Guatemala, United States, Ecuador, Peru, Mexico, and Aruba.
My adventures have been as varied as my destinations. I’ve hiked through the Amazon jungle…practiced archery with the help of a medieval knight…sailed with pirates…dined with members of royal courts…slept in castles…sampled cuisine prepared by some of the world’s best chefs…and stood overlooking the wonder of Machu Picchu.
I have also spent a fair amount of time being pampered in luxurious five-star spas. And did I mention wine tastings? There have been more of those than I can count. It’s quite a life and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
